You must register your premises as a hazardous waste producer before we can collect your equipment. Do it by post for £28, by telephone for £23 or do it online with a credit/debit card for just £18 CLICK HERE FOR LINK to the relevent page on the Environment Agency website. There are some exemptions, but these only apply to producers of under 200kg per year (equivalent to about6 computers per year). Charities are exempt. We will supply the Hazardous Waste Consignment Note. We will collect redundant IT equipment anywhere in West Yorkshire, currently at the following rates: |

With the ongoing WEEE Directives that arrived on January 2nd 2007 and the hazardous waste directives that came way back in July 2005, there are a whole bunch of hoops to jump through. So, for all our donators, we’ll try and simplify it for you. IT equipment is hazardous waste. CRT monitors contain 4lb of lead in the screen to protect you from radiation and the base units contain all manner of nasties including a battery which makes base units hazardous waste too. |
